Parmer Grand Opening Celebration

JULY 17th – Chipotle Ride

Wheels Down: 8:00am     Lunch: 11:00am

The Chipotle Ride, hosted by the Bicycle Sport Shop Super Squadra team and our friends at Austin Cycle Camp, will begin at our Parmer Store and head north to Andice. This out and back 50 mile ride will feature plenty of turn around points for those looking for a shorter ride option. Upon returning to the shop, participants will be treated to Chipotle burritos and Real Ale beer. Burritos will be available for the first 300 riders to RSVP. Qualified participants will receive a confirmation email on or before Thursday, July 15 that will need to be presented in order to receive their burrito. Beer will be available to all.

Staff members from Massage Heights Avery Ranch will also be on hand begining at 11:00 am to offer riders FREE chair massages as well as an oppotunity to purchase additional massage time.

WE HAVE REACHED OUR RSVP LIMIT. THERE MAY BE EXTRA BURRITOS ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS.

JULY 18th – Kid’s Extravaganza and Bike Rodeo

Time: 11:00am till 2:00pm

Volunteers from Bike Texas and Safe Routes to School are sponsoring a kid’s riding skills clinic and workshop including fitting and bike safety checks, free water bottles for each child while supplies last.

JULY 24th – Triathlon Ride and Clinic

Wheels Down: 8:00am  Lunch: 11:00am GET YOUR FREE TICKET

Join Austin T3 – Team Triathlon Training for a ride of up to 50 miles and featuring plenty of turn around points for those looking for a shorter ride option. Post-ride Texas Orthopedics will provide a BBQ lunch, beer and non-alcoholic beverages while participants receive tips and advice from T3 coaches on all things triathlon.

JULY 25th – Mountain Bike Skills Clinic

BICYCLE SPORT SHOP MOUNTAIN BIKE SKILLS CLINIC

Sunday, July 25, 2010, 9:00am – 2:00pm

Join us at Bicycle Sport Shop’s newest location on Parmer Lane for a free mountain bike skills clinic, followed by a group mountain bike ride in Brushy Creek Park. This clinic will be led by Bicycle Sport Shop Mountain Bike Team members, licensed skills instructors & coaches.

Who is this clinic for?

This clinic is designed for everyone! Whether you just bought your first mountain bike, are looking to learn skills that will help you on the trail, or you are an intermediate / advanced rider looking to improve or tackle more advanced skills such as wheelies, manuals, and navigating over larger obstacles, this clinic is for you! Children welcome!

What you will learn:

This clinic breaks down the fundamental skills of mountain bike riding into a set of fun activities that focus on balance, bike handling, climbing, safe descending tactics, and of course, navigating common trail obstacles. Specific activities include:

 Hopping over curbs and learning to bunny hop

 Bike Limbo – learn how to move your body all over the bike

 Balance and track stands

 Overcoming obstacles in the trail

 …and much more!

CLINIC AGENDA:
9:00am – Sign in and introductions
9:15am – Basics of MTB
9:30am – Individual Sessions Start
11:30am – Ride to Brushy Creek from Parmer Store as a group. Led mountain bike rides (by skill level) at Brushy Creek Park
1:00pm – Mountain Bike Maintenance 101 at BSS

      Hey Katie, registration is closed, but we should have a few extra burritos. It will be 1st come 1st serve on those. Beer is for everyone. Thanks!

    I’m delighted to have the energy of such a large group to drag my lazy rear out Parmer and back! I’m good for 25 miles or so, likely at a moderate pace. If you want to take it easy on this ride, look for the big guy on the black Cannondale.
