Endure to Cure with Bicycle Sport Shop!

October 28, 2010

There are so many things we could each do to make things better for others.  We could volunteer, raise money for a cause, offer kindness to a stranger.  Here at the shop we get asked time and again to help out so many worthwhile causes and it gets hard to have to say “sorry, we can’t” to some.

One thing that we are supporting and want to encourage everyone to come along for the ride with is Endure to Cure.

The Endure to Cure Foundation is a non-profit based in Chicago, IL and was established in memory of its two founders’ grandparents who died of cancer.  Endure to Cure’s goal is to serve as a way to contribute, inspire, and give hope to kids who suffer from various forms of pediatric cancer. All proceeds donated to Endure to Cure are given to one or several organizations that research, treat, and/or provide care for pediatric cancer patients.

One of the founders of Endure to Cure was Jason Sissel, and the overall idea of Endure to Cure was inspired by a conversation between Jason and his grandfather several months before he passed away. Combining his grandfather’s request to carry on his spirit after he passed away with Jason’s love for children and passion for inspiring others Jason resigned from a lucrative post-MBA job in order to follow his dream. His bottom line: life is too short not to take a risk and pursue your dreams; and there is no higher cause than love and service to others.

Bicycle Sport Shop is happy to assist Jason in following this passion and spreading his message of hope.  Jason’s personal effort to raise awareness of Endure to Cure and its mission to inspire children battling cancer, is to complete an inspiring campaign of endurance events which have never been collectively completed by one person, including the hardest cycling race in the world, the Race Across America (RAAM), an ultramarathon across the Sahara Desert, climb the Seven Summits (the highest mountain peak on each continent), and several Ultraman Triathlons (6.2mi swim, 260mi bike, 52.4mi run).  Included in Jason’s event calendar is the Ultraman World Championship this November.

Endure to Cure wants us all to get involved too. You can join Team Endure to Cure and conquer the “mountains” in your own life! Whatever your goal–or your “mountain”—whether it is a first century ride, a first sprint triathlon, or an ultraman event, Endure to Cure wants to inspire you to accept the challenge to inspire others Endure to Cure’s program will not only provide you with a training plan, but also give you the opportunity to share your journey with a child who has cancer and inspire him or her to conquer their own battle. Jason and the entire Endure to Cur team invite you to be somebody’s hero!

Join us in cheering Jason, and all the Endure to Cure athletes on, as they work to make the world a better place.  If you’d like to join them, learn more, or follow Jason’s progress, please visit Endure to Cure on line.
