ThinkBike Austin Workshop 2012

The Dutch partner with Americans to develop and implement best-practices in environmentally friendly-transportation networks. As we transition from an economy dependent on oil and gas to one driven by renewable energy sources, Dutch and American innovators are leading the way toward the future for sustainable transportation.
 
The Netherlands’ US Embassy works with cities throughout the US through the ThinkBike initiative, bringing Dutch bicycling experts together with local planners, engineers, transportation experts, and advocates together to resolve some of the challenges to biking in US cities.
 
On October 25-26, 2012, the Consulate General of the Netherlands, in cooperation with the City of Austin, Texas will host the ThinkBike Workshop Austin.
 
Over the course of these two days, teams made up of local experts will work together with Dutch bike planners to address challenges specific to Austin. Mayor Lee Leffingwell and City Council Member Chris Riley will welcome the Dutch Ambassador to the United States, Rudolf Simon Bekink and officials will the open the program on Thursday morning. Proposals developed by the teams during the workshop will be presented at the closing session Friday evening.
 
State, County and City staff, elected officials, local decision makers, press, advocates, community centers, bicyclists and citizens are invited to attend the opening and closing sessions.
